Our Commitment
We are committed to providing the very best Residential Care. Each Resident is treated as an individual with everyone having their own tailored care plan. Staff aim to build up close relationships with clients and their families and friends and we see this as key to ensuring the very best outcome for each client.
In order to ensure the best possible living for our Residents at The Towans from Day 1, we start to get to know the person before they move in. Before admitting a new Resident we aim to carry out an extensive assessment of their needs. We start to put together the Care Plan so we know exacly what care is required so we can be sure that the needs of the resident are entirely met. Not every one needs a lot of help at first and if that is so, we encourage people to be as independent as possible for as long as possible.
Every resident is allocated a "Key Worker" who will work with the Resident and management to ensure the care plan is followed, relevant to any changes which may have occurred and updated as and when necessary.
The staff at The Towans are well trained and we have a program of regular training and updating of our skills and are always on the look out for ways to improve our care.
It is our job to make sure that all the residential and care needs of our residents are met. We take care of :-
-
Residential accommodation and Maintenance
-
Meals and Sustenance
-
Laundry
-
Housekeeping
-
Drugs administration if required (Some people maintain theor own medication if they are able)
-
Doctors and Nurses visits
- Just about any help with personal care a resident needs
Most things are included but some items we organise like hairdressing, newspapers, chiropody, opticians, dentists are chargable as extras where these items are not covered by the NHS. We will always ensure you understand what is chargeable as extra.
Our carers are dedicated and conscientious in caring for our guests.
Like all care homes we are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) They check our service and report on what they find and we aim to have an open and honest relationship with them. The link below will open a copy of the latest report. The latest report shows that The Towans is fully compliant in all standards of Essential Quality and Safety to which we operate.

Gold Standards Framework for Care Homes
As part of our commitment in continuous improvement we are currently involved in a project to achieve accreditation to the Gold Standards Framework fo Care Homes (GSFCH) which is sponsored by the NHS and Somerset County Council. The accreditation will endorse aspects of our service, particularly Care Planning and End of Life Care especially, so that we are providing the very best care at all times and to the express wishes of our Residents. You can visit the GSF website www.goldstandardsframework.nhs.uk for more information and of course we will discuss this with you.
